What to Expect on the Day
- 1. The Inspection (30–45 Mins) I will arrive at your location and carry out the roadworthy check. This includes a visual inspection of the vehicle, followed by a mandatory test drive.
- 2. The Outcome Once the inspection is complete, you will receive one of two results immediately:
- ✅ Pass: If the vehicle meets QLD Safety Standards, I will issue your digital Safety Certificate on the spot.
- ❌ Fail: If issues are found, I will provide a clear list of exactly what needs to be rectified.
- 3. The Re-Inspection (If needed) You have 14 days to rectify any issues. Once the repairs are done, simply book a re-inspection. For this second visit, only the callout fee is charged, not the full inspection price 😊
How long is a Safety Certificate valid for?
For private sellers, a Queensland Safety Certificate is valid for 2 months or 2,000km, whichever comes first. For licensed motor dealers, it is valid for 3 months or 1,000km.
Do I get a paper or digital certificate?
I issue Digital Certificates. This means the results are instantly uploaded to Queensland Transport (TMR). I will email you a PDF copy immediately after the inspection, which you can use to transfer registration online or in person.
Do I need to be present for the inspection?
Not necessarily. Many clients leave the keys in a secure spot or with a family member. I will call or text you with the results once I’m done. *if you’re not present, advance payment will be required
My car has modifications (lift kit, bigger wheels, etc.). Can you inspect it?
Yes, provided the modifications are legal and where necessary have the correct Mod Plates attached. If you are unsure if your modifications are legal in Queensland, please send me a photo via text before booking.
I just moved to Brisbane from interstate. Do I need a QLD Safety Certificate?
Yes. Even if your car is currently registered in another state (like NSW or VIC) and has a recent roadworthy from there, Queensland Transport requires a QLD-issued Safety Certificate to transfer the registration to QLD plates. Luckily in QLD, you only need a RWC once per rego transfer, NOT once every 12 months.
How long do I have to change my registration over?
You are required by law to register your vehicle in Queensland within 14 days of moving here or purchasing an interstate vehicle.
